Poetry to Awoken to
Ode to fallen protester bearing paint
Though your blood ran as black,
A shockwave sprung from your impact.
The bankers who would soon see you dead,
Shall sooner see their income statements red
Leather
Abolishing gunslinging police
Is like a home run from Steve Scalise
If Kelis could bring all the cops to the yard
They would be strippers, no frisking barred
Why lick the boots of an imperious cop
When you can lick those of dancers for 20 a pop
2022 could see a new bootlìcker
Not with hate and mayo, but love and dark liquor
Ode to Bernie
Lehman Brothers and others went subprime
The little homeowner’s grass became as slime
Hope and Change saw Wall Street in its sights
A chance to correct the greed and resulting blights
Instead Justice chose a tradeoff
And life sentenced one Madoff
We were promised dignity by Barack
But were delivered a financial Iraq
Chief among his bummers
Was antichrist Larry Summers
When you govern by symbol
And not the substance
Pricked is the worker’s failing thimble
Arm itself pricked soon by fentanyl
Of people’s republics and antifascists
If you disagree with Antifa,
You die an Aeris than live a Tifa
Better think we not beyond labels
Lest fascists turn upon us the tables
